As the go-to career consultant at CMU-SV, Leigh supports graduate students in their professional development through a mix of individualized coaching, advising, and interactive workshops. She also leads the Peer Career Consultant team, a group of current students who help their peers polish resumes, navigate networking in Silicon Valley, connect with alumni, and support students by conducting mock interviews for software engineering, product management, and security engineering.

Leigh's favorite part of her role is co-facilitating workshops with her team of graduate student Peer Career Consultants and connecting students to potential mentors in their field of interest. Having grown up in the Bay Area, Leigh nerds out to learning about local startups, companies focused on social impact, and creating ways for students to engage creatively with employers.

Fun facts and random musings:

Outside of work, Leigh is passionate about volunteering at her church and mentoring high school students through the nonprofit BUILD. BUILD introduces students to entrepreneurship by having them create a business, pitch to VCs, and develop valuable skills like collaboration, grit, and innovation. Leigh finds joy in supporting these young entrepreneurs as they develop skills that will propel them far beyond high school.

Leigh also loves traveling with her husband. Together, they’ve explored six countries outside the US and are always planning their next adventure.

Professional bio:

Leigh joined CMU-SV in 2016 as the Student Services Coordinator within the Integrated Innovation Institute. Prior to CMU-SV, she served as the Assistant Director of Operations for summer programs at Georgetown University. Leigh holds a master’s degree in Organization and Leadership with a concentration in Higher Education and Student Affairs from the University of San Francisco and a BA in Psychology from UC San Diego.
