Local library options

Need a book right away or prefer something nearby? Students often use local public libraries from the Santa Clara County Library District (SCCLD). SCCLD libraries are part of a shared catalog system that lets you request items from other participating libraries across California and Nevada.

You can request a book from another LINK+ library and have it delivered to a nearby location for easy pickup, which is great for when you're in the middle of a project or need a book fast.

Apply for a Santa Clara County Library District card

This card provides access to a vast collection of books, digital media, research databases, and more from public libraries in Mountain View, Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, San Jose, and Palo Alto.

  1. Online application: Begin by filling out the online application form available on the SCCLD website.
  2. In-person verification: After submitting the application, visit any SCCLD branch during service hours to complete the process. You'll need to present a valid photo ID and proof of your current address. Acceptable forms of identification and address verification are listed on their website.
  3. Receive Your card: Once your information is verified, you'll be issued a full-access library card. This card allows you to borrow physical materials, access digital resources, and utilize various library services.
