CMU student ID card services
Here’s information on how to replace your CMU Student ID card:
Lost or stolen?
- Email student-services@sv.cmu.edu so we can deactivate your card and send you a confirmation email to show the NASA guards for campus entry.
- Fill out the ID Request Form (PDF) and email it to idplus@andrew.cmu.edu. Be sure to request that your new card be mailed to the CMU-SV campus.
- There is a $30 non-refundable replacement fee.
- We will notify you when your new card arrives.
Expiring before your graduation date?
- Email student-services@sv.cmu.edu, and we will take care of the request for you. There is no additional fee for this.
Billing, payments, & required fees
CMU’s Student Accounts Office manages the billing process. The HUB is your main contact for billing-related questions.
- Invoices are issued on the last day of each month.
- You will get an email notification when your invoice is ready in Student Information Online (SIO).
- In SIO, you can also:
- View balances and activity
- Register for online payments and banking
- Authorize others to view or pay your bill

Understanding required fees
Some student fees are mandatory and cannot be waived. You can find full details on The HUB’s website, but here’s a quick overview:
- Technology Fee: Supports campus IT services, software access, and your Andrew email.
- Transportation Fee: Provides unlimited access to VTA and Caltrain.
Student Activities Fee: Supports events and programming on campus. This fee applies to students registered for 19 or more units.

Graduation & diplomas

Legal consultations
All CMU students are eligible for one free 20-minute virtual consultation with an attorney per legal issue.

Support for learning & belonging
CMU’s Student Academic Success Center offers virtual academic coaching to help you stay organized and build strong habits. You can also explore additional support for communication and cross-cultural learning.

Conference funding
If you’re planning to present at or attend a conference, support may be available. In addition to any funding your department may offer, CMU’s Office of Graduate Affairs provides opportunities specifically for graduate students. Learn more about conference funding.
Emergency financial support
Unexpected expenses can come up during your time at CMU. CMU-SV partners with the Office of the Dean of Students to connect students with financial resources they may be eligible for.
- Emergency student loan
A short-term loan for urgent needs such as supplies, medication, or food. Repayment is typically due within 30 days. - Tartan Emergency Support Fund (TESF)
A one-time emergency grant for short-term personal needs. This fund does not require repayment but may have tax implications. - Student parental loan
Available to graduate students who become parents through birth, adoption, or guardianship while enrolled. Repayment is due within one year.
